Artist Statement
Beauty is all around us; ugliness too. The frightening thing is how easy it is to become so inured to both that we don’t notice the difference. Art can help us here. It serves to help us escape the ordinary, and in that escape, we discover again what it means to be human.
So, is this why I’m an artist? No, nothing so noble. It’s fun; I like to see what I can do and I really enjoy the occasional pat on the back when I do something well. But I also hope that once in a while my work will rise to the occasion and give someone a glimpse of life with innocent eyes.
