Artist Statement

I have always loved art, music and dance. I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico a town known for his cultural events and colonial style, so you can see this influence in some of my paintings.

My work continues to grow. My inspiration comes from nature, landscapes from places I have been in Europe and here. I have done some portraits of my grandchildren but I love the change of seasons in New England and try to capture the breathtaking colors of fall in my oil paintings and watercolors.

I started painting oils in Mexico. I studied a year of art in “ San Carlos Academy” and when my children were born I had to stop, but I continued to take private classes with well known art teachers. When I moved to the U. S. I began painting more and started taking watercolor and pastel classes at Montitech with Carol Santora. She taught me how to put together a show and we did some shows together. She asked me to go with her to Seyssel France to an Art Festival for two weeks and there were other artists from England, Geneva and Paris besides the local ones. We were the guests of the Mayor in that town, it was an exciting experience.

I have exhibited in different places, solo and in groups: CC Lowell, Greater Gardner Artist Association, Gardner Area League of Artists, Surroundings Gallery, Haley’s Antique Center, Fitchburg Art Museum, Gardner Art Museum, and other local events.

I have won some ribbons in juried shows in oil and watercolor. I have sold some paintings but I really paint for the happiness and satisfaction it gives me to create something beautiful and meaningful from a blank canvas or paper.
