Small paintings 1995 - 2008
Charlotte Gibbs of Pepperell, MA will be exhibiting her artwork of paintings and drawings dating from 1995 to 2008 as random acts of spontaneous expression in the first floor Display Cases at the Jaffrey Civic Center from Jan. 6 - Feb. 26, 2010.
Each painting has a story (about its making) and reveals a little about the artist and the kind of things that interest and influence her. Charlotte has exhibited in solo, two-person, and group exhibitions throughout the country and received awards since the mid-1960's. She has taught Portrait and Figure Painting and Still Life Painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA and the Sharon Arts Center, Sharon, NH.

GALA artist Guy Biechele will have his photograph "Cool Summer Stream" featured on the Massachusetts Municiple Association's 2009 Calendar. There is a statewide competition to pick the photographs used for this calendar each year. Posted 1-25-09.

Gary Ruuska's colored pencil painting "Two Down, Three to Go" has been
selected as a finalist in the Still Life category of The Artist's
Magazine 25th Annual Art Competition, 2008.
There will be a artists reception for Janet M. Reed from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday September 7, at the Gardner Ale House. Janet's work will be on display from September 7, until October 31, 2008. One of her most recent accomplishments has been to be chosen to do the cover of three Regional Yellow Pages Books, featuring "The Red Apple Farm". Lori MacDonald's painting, "Light and Shadow at High Ridge" (acrylic, 20"x16"), won the 3rd Place prize in a juried landscape show at the Post Road Art Center, 1 Boston Post Road (Route 20) East, in Marlborough, MA. Her painting will be on display through September 11, 2008.
Lisa Regopoulos had a painting juried into the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod - National Juried Show "For Pastels Only". The show runs through the month of August 2008 at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, MA. Lisa also had a painting juried into the Pastel Society of New Hampshire's North Eastern juried show. The opening of the show is September 19th through October 18th 2008 to be held at the Library Arts Center in Newport, New Hampshire.


Lisa Regopoulos (GALA member) and Dawn Gardetto have and exhibition at the Petersham Crafts Center. The exhibition is "In the Garden by the Sea: Paintings and Drawings of New England" and runs from April 6 - May 15, 2008. GALA member Gary Ruuska won the first place public voting award for "Garden Over the Deerfield" from the Jaffrey Civic Center 2007 Autumn Area Art Exhibit which ran from Nov. 9 through Dec. 15, 2008.

The artwork of Janet M. Reed will be on exhibition at the Gardner Ale House Restaurant, 74 Parker St., Gardner, MA, from November 1st through December 30th, 2007. An Artist's Reception will be held on Sunday, November 11th from 1:00 to 4:00.



Lisa Regopoulos had a painting accepted into the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod's 12th Annual "For Pastels Only - On Cape Cod" juried National exhibition. The show runs from August 1st through the 30th 2007 at the Creative Arts Center, 154 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 to 4:00. Saturday 10:00 - 4:00 and Sunday 1:00 pm to 3:00 p.m.

New Salem, MA; July 21, 2007--As a last-minute addition to the festivities of New Salem Old Home Day, the 1794 Meeting House will be presenting the first public showing of the short film The Story Of Peter Marlow. The film was directed & produced by Niles Larson of New Salem, with the original score composed by Adam Bergeron of Orange. The film will be shown at 11:45 AM and 12:45 PM, followed by a question-and-answer session with the director & composer. Admission is free and is based on a first-come-first-serve basis. GALA artist Gary Ruuska will have four colored pencil pieces in a show titled "June in Bloom" with 15 other artists at the Sharon Arts Center Gallery in Peterborough, NH. The opening is June 1, 5:00-7:00 pm. The show will be up for the month of June 2007, and has a floral/botanical theme. The Gallery is located at 30 Grove St. 603-924-7676.

GALA Photographer Latrice Cooper's solo exhibition is opening at Jumpin Juice & Java (486 Chestnut Street, Gardner, MA) on Sunday May 6, 2007. Your are invited to the reception which will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The exhibition will run from April 30 to June 30, 2007.
Carla Charter, a freelance writer from Phillipston, Ma. is having her first book, A Necessary Harvest, published in April by Ladder Press. The novel, centers around two elderly characters, Vangie and Elmer, and tells the story of Elmer's desperate and sometimes illegal attempts to assist his wife in battling a reoccurrence of cancer while also trying to find a way to pay their mounting medical expenses.
The book is scheduled to be released the week of April 22-29, 2007, Cover The Uninsured Week. "I specifically asked the novel be released that week, as I am hoping my writing gives a voice to the 45 million uninsured people in this country."
The book is scheduled to become a radio drama at KPHX 1480 in Phoenix, Arizona the same week.

Carolyn carter is exhibiting her decorated eggs in the Lithuanian and Ukrainian
styles at the Jaffrey Civic Center for the month of March, 2007.
Carolyn
Carter is teaching Egg Decorating in March and April as follows: Margutis is
designing with beeswax and onion skin dyes in the Lithuanian heritage.

Pysanky is working with beeswax and aniline dyes in
symbolic Ukrainian designs. March 18 & 25 at Fitchburg Art Museum and
March 24 at Jaffrey Civic Center. On April 7 there is an egg decorating class
for grades 4-8 at the Jaffrey Civic Center.

Gala artist Liz Nett is organizing a day of
"Everything Eastern". This will be an entertaining and
informative show/demonstration which will present
the relationships between the eastern arts and their influence on
culture, life and health. There will be demos and free mini classes including
Belly Dance, T'ai Chi, Japanese Brush Painting, Karate Demo, Massage Therapy,
Reiki, Yoga, Henna, and Drumming. This event will be held:

The above Sheraton style writing desk and three other pieces of handcrafted furniture by GALA member Guy Biechele are on display at the Petersham Crafts Center, Petersham, MA. The Exhibition "Out of the Woods: North Quabbin Woodworkers" showcases unique fine furniture, woodturning, instruments, sculpture, and other work by nine regional woodworkers, The exhibition runs from May 7 to June 15, 2006.

The Annual Spring Art Exhibit was held from February 24 to March 25, 2006 in Jaffrey, New Hampshire.

Chuck Heidorn has been invited to display his railroad art at the Penn State Altoona 2005 Railroad Heritage Conference - Portraits of Railroading. The conference will be held June 16 - 19. It will feature art, artists, tours, and presentations.

A recent two-day training on grant writing was held at Mount Wachusett Community College. Luis Gonzalez and Vicki Heidorn, GALA board members, attended. The GALA board is interested in developing a wider presence of arts in northern Worcester County. Pictured are the graduating class from the training, with Luis and Vicki in the back row. Contributes to Book That Will Aid Tsunami Victims "IMAGES TO
BRIGHTEN OUR WORLD" a collection of over 130 beautiful and uplifting
